The Board Best Practices Training Module equips participants with the tools to support democratic governance and accountability in worker cooperatives. This session covers the board's role in ownership, governance, management oversight, and fostering a participatory culture, ensuring long-term success and alignment with cooperative values. By understanding these responsibilities, board members can help maintain balance, empower workers, and uphold the cooperative’s mission of democracy and equity.
Your Instructor
Tori Kuper is the Director for the School for Democratic Management, where she equips worker cooperative managers and technical assistance providers with the tools and training they need to succeed. With over 15 years of experience building democratic organizations, Tori co-founded BreadHive Worker Cooperative and Cooperation Buffalo, revitalizing Buffalo’s worker cooperative movement. She has held leadership roles in the solidarity economy, including seven years at New Economy Coalition. Tori serves on multiple boards supporting the cooperative and solidarity economy sector and holds a Master’s Degree from NYU.
